As the Designated Body (DeBo), DEKRA is assessing the ICNG against the ‘Regeling Indienststelling Spoorvoertuigen’ (RIS), the Dutch Notified National Technical Rules for assessing new vehicles regarding interoperability. In addition, in its role as the Assessment Body (AsBo), DEKRA is also assessing the safety management system against the Common Safety Method (CSM REA).
The test results from the test organization, in which DEKRA also plays an important role, will be used by Alstom as evidence of compliance with the assessment framework set by the NoBos and DeBos. The aspects assessed and tested include the compatibility of the train with the European Rail Traffic Management Systems (ERTMS) as well as Electromagnetic Compatibility (EMC).
In addition to the five-car set, the eight-car set will also be assessed. Train sets which can also run on the Belgian track will then follow. “We are proud that, as part of this dynamic project, we can use our highly specialized knowledge and skills to support Alstom and be part of making travel by train convenient and safe,” says Jean-Paul van Hengstum.
DEKRA Rail
As DEKRA’s division for testing, inspection, and certification of rolling stock, rail infrastructure, rail products, and trackside workplace safety equipment, DEKRA Rail helps infrastructure managers, train operators, and industry to operate and manage their assets and products in an effective and efficient way.
Admittance testing
Before a new or modified train can be admitted to a national rail network, it must be tested in accordance with regulations. Does the entire train, every subsystem, and every component meet the requirements for design and production, as well as the European and national safety requirements? That is what the assessment and testing services offered by DEKRA are all about.
